Coding, Kittens, and Unicorn Mermaids!
Running out of STEM resources for your students?
Erase All Kittens is a multi-award-winning online adventure game that introduces professional coding skills to children aged 8–13, and inspires girls to code.
So why Erase All Kittens?
When Tim Berners-Lee was asked for an example of a popular use of the internet that he would never have predicted, he answered ‘Kittens’. We thought that this would be a perfect place to start — an epic kitten-based storyline to encourage even the most technophobic child to want to learn coding skills, like HTML.
And it’s working. The first version has over 150,000 players worldwide and more than half of them are girls — as opposed to an estimated 18% for other coding tools. And an incredible 95% of all girls who have played Erase All Kittens have said that they want to learn more about coding after playing.
EAK hooks even the most reluctant of students — it was recently featured by The Independent and Vodaphone as being one of the most inspiring tools for kids and families during lockdown.
Here is what Eleanor Judd, a teacher in Norfolk, said after her class had played:
“It was a real pleasure to see girls with no coding experience take to EAK like a duck to water, and then go on to borrow Microbits and books about coding”
We’re currently offering the game for free to teachers and parents — no catch!

You can see how EAK works here and here’s some feedback from young girls at a school in London.
And if your students enjoy it, please help us to spread the word!
