Getting ready to Kickstart…

Erase All Kittens

We know that girls are growing up with less confidence in learning digital skills — the very skills they will need in the future economy. The one where two thirds of jobs don’t yet exist… yet also the one where digital skills will be key.

We don’t want to see girls get left behind, so we’re creating an epic, story-driven platform game that teaches kids to code — in a completely new way.

Erase All Kittens has characters and stories set in a fantasy internet universe, designed to strongly appeal to girls — without pandering to gender stereotypes. Girls aged 8+ can build and fix levels by changing the actual source code, using professional languages, such as HTML.

But to take it further, we’re going to need your help. Last month, we partnered with an award-winning games development company, Playerthree, and now we’re raising funds to take E.A.K. to the next level.

Our goal is to build the first ever game that inspires girls to code and create. A game that makes code education meaningful — by allowing girls to apply practical skills in a creative way instead of just giving them instructions. And we’re looking to Kickstarter to make it a reality.

So next week, we’ll be launching our crowdfunding project. We’ll be looking to raise £15,000 so that we can start working with Playerthree to develop E.A.K. for the iPad. We’re planning to build levels teaching HTML, CSS and Javascript, so that we can eventually show girls how to build their own simple websites.

It’s an ambitious target, but we hope you’ll help us reach it, by supporting our mission and spreading the word. So please keep an eye out for the launch in the next few days, and follow us on Facebook and Twitter to make sure you don’t miss out!

Thanks so much,

Team E.A.K.
